The Mowgli Trust

The Mowgli Story

A tale of a different kind of Indian restaurant in Newcastle

Mowgli Newcastle is pretty much an invitation into the kind of home-cooked reality found in the bustling backstreets of Varanasi. We’ve moved away from the stereotypical curry house menu to focus on the aromatic, herb-led dishes that actually grace an Indian family table. These are family recipes, handed down through generations and brought to life in the heart of Grainger Town to show what real Indian street food is all about.

The Mowgli experience

What to expect

Our Newcastle home is a busy, buzzy spot where the clatter of tiffin tins is the only music we need and the fairy lights do all the heavy lifting. You can park yourself on one of our famous indoor swings to watch the Nelson Street crowds go by, or grab a booth and get stuck into a pile of small plates with the family.
